Salut my loves, from sunny San Diego! I’m spending the week in SoCal on a recruiting trip, and I’m glad I get to take a break from rainy Seattle and bask in the sun for a bit.
This year Elle Saab’s spring haute couture collection was easily one of my favorites and was the first thing I thought about when I found this dress. I had been looking for a dress I could wear to a gala, one that incorporated sequins, lace and tulle, and this dress does all that! I love that everything’s artfully and strategically placed to emphasize and deemphasize different areas of the body, and I love the drama of it all.
Let’s talk about this little vintage house, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I found out about this cute little nook on Instagram, and thought it would be perfect to shoot this dress because of the juxtaposition. I love everything about this house, especially that it was made out of salvaged materials and dumper finds. It sort of reminded me of the Japanese art – Kintsugi, which is about repairing broken pottery with powdered gold, silver or platinum, to create something new and more beautiful. I find that message quite powerful and inspiring :).
The décor in the house was also very well done, and the attention to detail outstanding! I might have to get Daniel’s help with decorating whenever I get a house :D.
